Hello my name is Abbey. I'm a Korean-American artist currently in my final year of a Textiles BFA at Rhode Island School of Design.
Alongside textiles, I am also a concentrator in Nature Culture + Sustainabiliy Studies and Computation, Technology + Culture.
I am exploring how to incorporate interactivity and collaboration in textiles. Focusing on the meta-materiality of textiles as a medium, I am working to connect how similar materials such as code, sound, linguistics, and mathematics can be used not just as creative tools but as a creative subject. Using interactive websites, surveys, programming, sensors, and space I've created knitted and woven fabrics that encourage fun and consideration of the creative process. During my free time I like to knit socks, frisbee, and inspect websites.
